Brazil’s Embraer delivered two new A-29B Super Tucano light strike aircraft to the Chilean Air Force in mid-March, senior military sources in Santiago told Jane’s .
These are part of an order for six Super Tucanos, which Embraer first announced in October 2017 without unveiling the customer’s identity.
That order is in addition to 12 A-29Bs, worth USD120 million, that Chile ordered in August 2008 and received between 2009 and 2010.
Chile’s Air Group 1, based at Los Condores Air Force Base in Iquique, in the north, uses the aircraft as tactical trainers and as close air support for the army’s armoured brigades deployed in northern territories.
