The Bulgarian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has selected Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RSK MiG) under a single-source tender to provide the Bulgarian Air Force (BuAF) with integrated logistical support for its 15 MiG-29 jet fighters for 48 months. Bulgarian Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov took the decision on 6 March after negotiations with the Russian company were completed in Sofia on 16 February. If there is no appeal against the decision by 17 March, which is highly unlikely, a framework agreement will be signed soon afterwards.
The MoD originally published the tender on 7 December 2017 with the intention of sealing the Bulgarian-Russian deal before the end of 2017.
