Portuguese Army boosts its special ops firepower

The Portuguese Army’s Special Operations Force (FOE) has received an undisclosed quantity of new small arms and accessories.

Deliveries mainly comprised Barret M107A1 .50 cal and Accuracy AXMC .338 precision rifles, Heckler & Koch HK417 7.62x51 mm assault rifles, FABARM STF/12 Compact FE 12-gauge shotguns, and Heckler & Koch HK269 40x46 mm grenade launchers, as well as several associated PM II series scopes from Schmidt & Bender.

The FOE, which is based in Lamego and is a sub-unit of the Special Operations Troops Centre (which itself is integrated within the Portuguese Army’s Rapid Reaction Brigade), has also received an initial batch of MRZR2 MT and Sportsman MV850 MT all-terrain vehicles.
