The Qatari Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 7 March that it had launched Barzan Holdings, a new company that will help the country manage defence sector research and development (R&D) programmes and investments, as well as strategic procurements.
The company, which is overseen by CEO Mohammed Mubarak al-Khater, is fully owned by the Qatari MoD and headquartered in the Qatar Science and Technology Park in Doha.
The organisation will focus on investing in defence and security companies, and the creation of joint ventures that will encourage economic returns to Qatar through the funding of developments in new technologies and the acquisition of intellectual property.
