Saab Australia has been awarded an AUD24.2 million (USD19 million) contract to supply an updated Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System (ISCMMS) for four of the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN’s) six Collins-class submarines.
“Saab’s ISCMMS enables the Collins-class submarines to manoeuvre and it fully integrates the management of propulsion, trim, power generation and ship services,” said Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne in a 6 March statement, pointing out that the contract was awarded by Australian state-owned shipbuilder ASC.
In a separate statement, ASC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Stuart Whiley said that this project demonstrates the “high level of local industry content and collaboration in supporting Australia’s sovereign submarine capability: the Collins-class fleet”.
