Negotiations behind the planned acquisition of Sparton Corporation by Ultra Electronics have been terminated, Ultra Electronics announced on 5 March.
The announcement followed the results of an antitrust review by the US government that has concluded that the sale cannot go ahead.
In November 2017, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States concluded that there were no unresolved national security concerns with regards to the transaction, but the antitrust clearance that was necessary following this was not granted.
“The proposed merger with Sparton was initiated following Sparton’s decision to put itself up for sale in April 2016,” Douglas Caster, executive chairman, said.
