- The Russian president has showcased a number of new Russian weapon systems
- There is scepticism regarding some of the systems' technology and status
On 1 March Russian President Vladimir Putin used his annual address to Russia’s joint session of parliament to showcase the operational capabilities of a number of new Russian weapon systems.
The two-hour presentation, Putin’s 14th state of the nation address, was unlike his previous appearances in that it included a lengthy set of video clips showing the weapons either engaged in live-fire tests or in CGI depictions of their performance.
Some of the new weapons were by Putin’s own admission in their initial developmental phases and thus far have not been given designators.
