US Department of State designates seven groups as FTOs and two people as SDGTs in the US

IN A STATEMENT released on 28 February, the United States Department of State added seven Islamic State-affiliated groups - Wilayat Gharb Afriqiyya, the Islamic State in the Philippines, the Islamic State in Bangladesh, the Islamic State in Somalia, Wilayat Sinai, the Maute group, and Jund al-Khalifah Tunisia - to the list of Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTOs). The statement also designated two senior militants as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs): the deputy leader of the Islamic State in Somalia - identified as Mahad Moalim - and the leader of Wilayat Gharb Afriqiyya - identified as Abu Musab al-Barnawi.
