US, Taiwan look to expand defence industrial ties

01 March 2018

The US-Taiwan Business Council (USTBC) is to hold a forum in Taiwan in May with a view to boosting defence industrial collaboration in supply chains.

Lotta Danielsson, vice president of the USTBC, told Jane’s on 28 February that the forum is an “opportunity to bring together our members to discuss ways to [expand ties], and how that might help support Taiwan’s national defence”.

She said the forum will be a one-off event and is being organised by the USTBC in collaboration with the Taiwan Defense Industry Development Association (TW-DIDA). Danielsson also stressed that the forum is separate to the US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference, which is held annually in the United States and is next scheduled for late October 2018.
