Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said his country's defence modernisation plans as well as upgrades of existing military equipment are one of the priorities of his government, the offical BelTa news agency has reported.
During a speech marking the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Belarus on 22 February, he highlighted the importance of high precision weapons, stating that Belarus is working on its own systems with assistance from China. In this context, he mentioned ongoing work on the Polonez multiple rocket launcher, with a range of 300 km, for which he said there is interest from unspecified countries.
