Amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) has proved in recent tests it can put marines on the beach as needed.
During initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) exercises held in December 2017, America proved it can move “marines ashore in an adequate timeline to meet power projection requirements”, according to a final report on the drills issued by Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force in January, the US Navy (USN) told Jane’s in a statement.
