Mexico’s military needs a boost in spending and a procurement process overhaul if the nation hopes to achieve its external ambitions, according to an expert.
Iñigo Guevara, Jane’s consulting director, said Mexico would need to annually spend USD3 billion over the next five years to get up to date on all of its requirements. Guevara said it is more likely the nation will continue to spend about USD1 billion per year on defence procurement.
