France's proposed Loi de programmation militaire (LPM) 2019–25 military funding programme was presented to the Council of Ministers on 8 February, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced the same day.
The draft programme, which the French parliament will vote on in the summer, foresees spending a total of EUR198 billion (USD242.7 billion) in 2019-23, averaging EUR39.6 billion per year. Planned spending over the entire 2019-25 period of the LPM totals EUR295 billion.
The LPM foresees the acceleration of the Scorpion programme, with the delivery of 50% of the planned 1,668 Griffon, 248 Jaguar, and 558 light VBMR armoured vehicles by 2025.
