Turkey will no longer buy foreign defence equipment except in urgent cases, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Justice and Development (AKP) party deputies on 6 February. “[Turkey] will not buy any defence products, software, and systems from abroad that can be designed, produced, and developed in the country except those required urgently.”
He said the decision was made during a meeting of the Turkish Defence Industries Undersecretariat (SSM) Executive Committee on 31 January.
