Czechs revise specifications for new helicopter

06 February 2018

The General Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR) has submitted a revised list of specifications for a new medium multirole helicopter to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The revised specifications were submitted by the ACR on 31 January at the request of Defence Minister Karla Slechtova, who ordered a full review of the procurement of 12 medium multirole helicopters to replace the ACR’s current fleet of Russian-made Mi-24/35 combat support helicopters.

In January Slechtova said that the ACR’s specifications for a helicopter replacement were unrealistic and did not reflect anything currently available on the market.

“Minister Slechtova received the specifications by the deadline she set, and now she can familiarise herself with them, along with representatives of the General Staff and ministry,” General Josef Becvar, Chief of the General Staff of the ACR, told media on 31 January.
