Boeing has invested in battery technology start-up Cuberg, the most recent foray of the aerospace OEM’s venture capital arm, HorizonX.
Cuberg was founded by former Stanford University researchers, and is developing next-generation battery technology for potential aerospace and industrial applications, including a power cell that is designed to be a drop-in solution to existing large-scale battery manufacturing processes, Boeing said.
This combines a lithium metal anode and a proprietary electrolyte and high-voltage cathode to achieve high energy density and thermal durability, development of which has been facilitated by a number of rounds of funding since Cuberg was established in 2015.
