The Brazilian Army has authorised its commission in Washington to sign a letter of offer and acceptance (LOA) with the US government to buy 40 M992A2 field artillery ammunition support vehicles (FAASVs).
The former US Army vehicles would be granted as excess defence articles through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme. The M992A2s were added to a donation of 60 former US Army M109A5 155 mm self-propelled howitzers (SPHs) that were granted via an LOA that was signed on 28 June 2017.
Brazil also will receive 32 M109A5+BRs, which are M109A5s granted by the United States that are being modernised by BAE Systems.
