New Zealand accepts Supacat special operations vehicles

18 January 2018

UK vehicle manufacturer Supacat has announced that the fleet of Special Operations Vehicles – Mobility Heavy (SOV-MH) ordered by New Zealand’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) in September 2016 has been accepted.

The company said in a statement on 16 January that the fleet would enter service with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) early this year, adding that the new SOV-MH vehicles were based on the latest MkII version of Supacat’s HMT Extenda.

Designed for special forces, the HMT Extenda can be converted to a 4×4 or 6×6 configuration to meet different operational requirements. Its open architecture provided for various levels of protection and variety in the roles and missions for which it could be configured, added the company.
