A Nigerian military helicopter crashed on 8 January while conducting counter-insurgency operations against Boko Haram fighters in the northeast of the country, national media reported.
The incident resulted in “significant damage” to the Mil Mi-17 ‘Hip’ transport and assault helicopter, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) was reported as saying, though no fatalities were sustained by the crew or passengers. The cause is being investigated.
