Finland has become the first export customer for the New Lightweight Torpedo (NLT) being developed by Swedish defence and security group Saab.

Forming part of a larger contract awarded to Saab for the modernisation of the Finnish Navy’s four Hamina-class fast attack craft (FACs) under the Squadron 2000 mid-life upgrade programme (SQ2000 MLU), the NLT award covers torpedo fire control systems, launchers, documentation, training, and support as well as the torpedoes themselves.
