Poland’s Stocznia Marynarki Wojennej (SMW) shipyard in Gdynia was taken over by PGZ Stocznia Wojenna on 20 December. Starting this month PGZ will formally start the incorporation process to fit SMW into its corporate structure.
The takeover of SMW, conducted in accordance with the Article 346 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU), was initiated to secure critical assets essential for the defence of Poland and expand them within the PGZ group to further strengthen the national interest, according to the Polish government.
