Nigerian Army Aviation Corps makes headway

The Nigerian Army new aviation wing is beginning to take shape with the commissioning of its first helicopter pilots and the planned acquisition of three light helicopters.

The establishment of the Army Aviation Corps (AAC) was announced by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai in 2016. Its first 10 pilots were commissioned on 12 December during the COAS annual conference held at Ibadan, Oyo State, according to Nigerian media reports.
