Seasonal claims by Greek anarchists of food contamination aim at damaging targeted companies, rather than harming consumers

20 December 2017

Event

In a statement released on the website indymedia.com on 18 December, entitled ‘Green Nemesis Act 3’, the Black and Green Arsonists group claimed that it had taken several products of soft drinks (by Coca-Cola), meat produce (Yfantis), and dairy (Delta) off shop shelves in Athens and Thessaloniki and would return them across supermarket chains from 20–24 December, contaminated with hydrochloric acid.

The group has posted photos of these products to support their claim. The Hellenic Food Authority has warned consumers to avoid these products, pending investigation by the police. Similar threats were made using the name ‘Green Nemesis’ ahead of the Christmas (December) period in 2013 and 2016.
