Qatar parades Chinese ballistic missiles

20 December 2017

The Qatari military unveiled its previously unseen Chinese-made Joint Attack Rocket & Missile systems (JARMs) on 18 December, when two launchers and two transporter-loader vehicles participated in the National Day parade in Doha.

The JARM is promoted by the China National Precision Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CPMIEC) as the launching platform for BP-12A and SY400 surface-to-surface missiles.

A JARM launcher can carry two containers, each holding either a single BP-12A or four SY400 missiles. Both types are vertically launched.

While the JARMs did not feature prominently in the televised coverage of the event, an image that circulated on social media of them participating in a rehearsal showed one of the launchers was carrying a container for a single munition.
