Suicide attack kills at least 17 police officers in Somalia's Mogadishu

AT LEAST 17 police officers were killed and 20 others were wounded when a Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen suicide bomber, disguised as a police officer, detonated his explosives inside the General Kahiye Police Training Academy in Somalia's capital Mogadishu on 14 December, Reuters reported. Reports added that the militant infiltrated the training camp during an early morning parade. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack and the group's military operations spokesperson - Abdiasis Abu Musab - claimed that the attack killed 27 police officers. The claim could not be independently verified.
