The commissioning of Separ (P 234) took place at the IRIN’s Bandar-e Anzali base on the Caspian. The first three Sinas were commissioned by the Caspian fleet between 2004 and 2009.

The class is based on the Combattante II FACs that Iran ordered from France in the 1970s, at least nine of which continue to serve in the Gulf (based at Bushehr) and Gulf of Oman (based at Jask).

Satellite imagery shows another Sina has been under construction at Bandar Abbas since 2012 and the hull for what may be a sixth has been present at the Bostanu shipyard since May 2016.
