Lockheed Martin highlights synthetic training capabilities for F-35

Lockheed Martin is promoting its F-35 Ground Based Training System (GBTS), covering the full continuum of learning from the schoolhouse through advanced tactics and mission rehearsal, as an affordable but high-fidelity alternative for pilots and aircraft maintainers to gain proficiency in their respective domains with minimal stress on resources.

Dave Scott, vice-present, Business Development noted at the latest Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando that the F-35 fuses data from various displays and sensors and presents a comprehensive picture of the battlespace, so the training system therefore focuses heavily on the operational capabilities and command-and-control (C2) aspects of flying the aircraft.
