Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) announced on 5 December that it is launching the production of the Pilica air defence system. Deliveries of the system will start in 2019 and last until 2022.
The contract to equip six PSR-A Pilica batteries is worth PLN750 million (USD211 million). The radio-location sensor will be bought from a foreign company and integrated in Poland.
Pilica is a very short-range missile defence system consisting of a double-barreled 23 mm gun with a high rate of fire, supplemented by two short range Grom/Piorun-type missiles.
