Romania has signed a letter of offer and acceptance to buy Raytheon’s Patriot air defence system from the United States, the company announced on 29 November.
The agreement paves the way for Romania’s Patriot force to rapidly reach its initial operational capability and for contract negotiations to begin between the US government and Raytheon.
The procurement will help Romania reach NATO’s guideline to spend at least 2% of GDP on defence, according to Raytheon.
