- Northrop Grumman delivers its first operational Triton UAV to the US Navy
- The company expects to deliver another aircraft by the end of 2017
Northrop Grumman recently delivered the first operational MQ-4C Triton unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to the US Navy facility at Point Mugu, California, according to a company statement.
Northrop Grumman vice-president for Triton Doug Shaffer told Jane’s in a recent interview that the first two Tritons being delivered are in early operational capability (EOC), a stage before initial operational capability (IOC) that signify early employment of the baseline programme. Shaffer said these first two Tritons will do workups as VX-1, getting the aircraft ready for early deployment to Guam by the end of 2018.
