Work began at the future site of the Belgian air force's control and reporting centre (CRC), which will be moved from Glons to Beauvechain Air Base at the end of 2018. The building work is scheduled for completion in November 2018, with the CRC reaching its full operational capability in 2019.
The CRC provides surveillance of the airspace of Belgium and Luxembourg 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This includes supporting the air policing of these two countries plus that of the Netherlands, which Belgian and Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16s have been conducting jointly since the beginning of 2017.
