South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has outlined a requirement to secure defence offsets worth at least USD400 million in its programme to procure ship-based anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters.
The procurement agency said that it is seeking to finalise a list of South Korean companies to take part in the offset programme through a conference it is holding in Seoul, which concludes 10 November.
DAPA said the conference is intended to support foreign helicopter manufacturers identify domestic industrial partners through which defence offsets can be discharged.
It added that the ASW helicopter programme will commence from 2020, with defence offsets “of a scale of about USD400 million”.
