Court convicts man on terrorism offences in Australia's New South Wales

AT A COURT in Parramatta in Sydney in Australia's New South Wales state on 30 October, a 20-year-old man - identified as Tamim Khaja - was convicted after he pleaded guilty to planning to conduct an attack targeting courts and a defence base in Sydney, The Daily Telegraph reported. Khaja was arrested by police during a counter-terrorism operation at Parramatta Stadium on 17 May 2016 after he allegedly attempted to purchase a firearm from an undercover police officer. Reports added that Khaja was scheduled for sentencing on an unspecified date in February 2018.
