(Bundeswehr)A fourth German Tiger combat helicopter was airlifted to Mali on 27 October, the Bundeswehr has announced. The partly dismantled helicopter was flown by Antonov An-124 from Leipzig to Bamako, where it is being reassembled before flying to Gao.

The helicopter replaces a Tiger which crashed in Mali on 26 July, killing the two pilots. The news magazine Spiegel reported on 14 October that the crash occurred after an engine access panel fell off the helicopter in flight, raising the possibility that this may have caused the crash.
