General Dynamic Mission Systems (GDMS) has developed a new wireless gateway as part of its Fortress wireless product line.
The Fortress wireless gateway provides internet protocol (IP) connectivity and roaming between Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and wireless mesh networks. It includes an Intel-based single board computer and different radio cards that support mesh and LTE communications using self-forming, self-healing Mobile Ad Hoc Networking (MANET) technology.
Rob Voorhees, head of global accounts, C4ISR technologies for GDMS, told Jane’s that it is the first gateway that combines mesh and LTE in a single vehicle platform. It enables users to connect existing mobile devices to the network.
