VBIED attack kills at least 300 people in Somalia's Mogadishu

AT LEAST 300 people - including four Red Cross workers and a journalist - were killed and at least 300 others were wounded when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) - described in reports as a truck bomb -detonated near the entrance of a hotel in Zoobe junction KM4 street in Hodan district in Somalia's capital Mogadishu on 14 October, Al-Jazeera, BBC and The Guardian reported. The Qatari Embassy was also damaged in the attack and its charge d'affaires was wounded. No immediate claim of responsibility for the attack was made, but the Somali government blamed Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen.
