The weapon mount from an unidentified origin is armed with the FN Herstal MAG 58M 7.62x51 mm machine gun (MG).

Two systems have so far been purchased. It is not known if further mounts will be acquired, but the system’s modularity means it can be rapidly re-installed onto other platforms. The system was approved for use during firing tests held in late June in Rio de Janeiro.

The SH-16s are operated from São Pedro da Aldeia naval air base. The MAG 58M MG will boost the SH-16’s ability to counter asymmetric threats in missions such as maintenance of law and order, maritime patrol, and low-intensity warfare.
