Separate talks to supply landing platform dock (LPD)-like ships to the navies of Malaysia and the Philippines by Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT Penataran Angkatan Laut (PT PAL) have respectively stalled, an official from the company confirmed to Jane’s on 9 October.
The talks have been “put on hold until further notice” pending results of ongoing investigations into allegedly corrupt practices by former officials at the firm, said the company source.
