Blue Origin will ‘soon’ start testing its BE-4 rocket engine that could serve as the first stage booster for future US Air Force (USAF) launches.
Blue Origin CEO Bob Smith made the remark on 5 October at the first meeting of the US National Space Council in Chantilly, Virginia. While he did not provide more context, Smith’s comment on testing is significant as it is unclear whether the company resumed BE-4 testing after a mishap earlier this year. Blue Origin said in a 14 May Twitter post that it lost a set of powerpack test hardware on one of its BE-4 test stands on 13 May.
