US Navy Goshawk jet crashes, crew killed

A US Navy (USN) Boeing T-45 Goshawk jet trainer aircraft crashed on 2 October, killing both crew members.

The incident, which involved an aircraft from Training Air Wing 1 based at Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian in Mississippi, is currently being investigated by the service. No further details were disclosed.

Derived from the BAE Systems Hawk T1, the T-45 Goshawk has been used by the USN to train pilots for carrier operations since 1991. Prior to this incident, the service had 197 T-45s in its inventory based at NASs Kingsville, Meridian, and Pensacola.
