Militants kill one civilian in airport attacks in Afghanistan's Kabul

A WOMAN was killed and 11 other civilians were wounded during a rocket, mortar, and suicide attack targeting Kabul airport in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on 26 September, Associated Press and Reuters reported. Reports stated that the attackers - including suicide bombers - clashed with security forces throughout the day before four attackers were killed The attack was claimed by both the Taliban - who claimed to have targeted the aircraft of United States Secretary of Defense James Mattis who was visiting Kabul that day - and the Islamic State's Wilayat Khorasan. The US responded to the attack with an airstrike that suffered a missile malfunction, causing an unspecified number of civilian casualties.
