Navantia Australia, which is bidding to win a AUD35 billion (USD28 billion) programme to build nine frigates for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), has announced that Warren King, former head of the country’s Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), will be its new chairman of the board.
The company said on 29 September that King will be named as chair of the Navantia Australia board during its next meeting, which will be held next week. Navantia Australia said the appointment is reflective of its commitment to the market in which it has more than tripled its workforce since 2014. King has been acting in advisory capacity for Navantia Australia since 2016.
