AM General has been awarded a USD45.9 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) contract by the US Army for the procurement of 6,576 capability expansion kits for M1151A1B1 Humvees for the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF), the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced on 27 September.
Work will be performed in South Bend, Indiana, with an estimated completion date of 31 August 2018. Bids were solicited via the Internet with one received.
The latest contract announcement comes after AM General said on 29 August that it had received a firm-fixed-price 'requirements contract' to build as many as 11,560 new Humvees for up to USD2.2 billion for FMS customers.
