NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) General James Everard on 20 September announced the next steps in strengthening NATO Baltic and Poland-based battlegroups with air and naval forces.
The announcement came during a two-day visit to Estonia and meetings with the commander of Estonian Defence Forces, General Riho Terras, the country’s defence forces reported.
Gen Everard emphasised that air-ground forces’ co-operation and co-ordination is particularly important and will promote the further improvement of deterrence and the defence capabilities of regionally stationed alliance battlegroups.
“The NATO army units have integrated very well and quickly here but we must reinforce them with air force and naval elements.
