The government of Vietnam has outlined a requirement for its defence industrial base to become more competitive in domestic and international defence markets.
At a government meeting on 20 September to shape the development of the defence industry over the coming decade, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc outlined a commitment to invest in related national infrastructure.
In comments published by the government’s information service, Phuc said that while Vietnam’s defence industry has achieved significant advancements in the past decade, additional breakthroughs are required if Vietnam is to achieve its aim to reduce dependency on defence imports and make inroads into foreign markets.
