14 September 2017

British Army chiefs hope the acquisition strategy for the service’s future wheeled Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV) will be confirmed by the end of the year.

Speaking at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2017 defence exhibition in London on 13 September, Major General Chris Tickell, head of capability for the British Army, said a high-level UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) procurement group had decided to move forward with the project to procure “several hundred vehicles” for the army’s two new strike brigades.

“The Investment Approvals Committee has agreed to move forward with the progamme, but it has not yet confirmed the acquisition strategy,” said Maj Gen Tickell.
