The first Lithuanian Boxer 8x8 prototypes will be ready this autumn, according to Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, whose ARTEC joint venture with Rheinmetall is producing the infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
Kurt Braatz, KMW's senior vice-president for strategy and corporate communications, told Jane's the prototypes would be followed by deliveries next year.
All 91 Boxers are scheduled to have been delivered by 2021. Lithuania is the only country so far to have ordered the IFV version. The Boxer has a common vehicle and 15 different modules are being produced for Germany, the Netherlands, and Lithuania.
All three nations will have the driver trainer version and Lithuania will receive IFV squad, platoon, company commander, and command post modules.
