- UK sees growth in naval sector exports over next decade
- While UK is developing naval capability to meet growing threats, international export market remains highly competitive
The UK is predicting increased exports over the next decade on the back of sales of naval systems.
Growth will be driven by navies addressing growing threats and the UK Royal Navy (RN) receiving new platforms and capabilities designed to tackle such threats, said Stephen Phipson, head of the UK’s Defence and Security Organisation in the Department for International Trade.
Phipson told the Maritime Capability conference at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London that the UK sees over the next decade “a substantial growth in other nations requiring to upgrade their naval capabilities”.
