DSEI 2017: Oxbotica details vision-based navigation system

12 September 2017

UK-based robotics and automation company Oxbotica has detailed a vision-based navigation system used to enable navigation for automated vehicles in GPS-denied environments.

Speaking to Jane’s at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI), Oxbotica CEO Graeme Smith said that the company’s navigation technology enables any equipped vehicle to operate in environments where GPS has been jammed or the signal otherwise compromised.

Such vehicle-agnostic technology could be adapted for use in the military sphere, with the company demonstrating the technology at QinetiQ’s Hurn Proving Ground earlier this year as part of a UK Ministry of Defence’s Centre for Defence Enterprise programme over 2016 and 2017.
