From small beginnings some 18 years ago, South African company Parsec (Stand N3-110) has significantly broadened its scope as an original design manufacturer, specialising in the design, manufacture, integration and support of advanced technology systems.
‘‘Although still focused on our core capabilities of advanced design and manufacturing, as well as being a certified software developer, Parsec now offers turnkey integrated solutions,’’ says Tobie van Loggerenberg, business development director.
Besides international programmes such as optical helmet-mounted tracking systems for Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon jet fighters, Parsec contributes to several South African aerospace and defence programmes. These include the Rooivalk attack helicopter, Mokopa anti-armour missile, and the ground-based air defence system. The company has proven expertise in software, firmware, hardware and CAD design, supported by an overarching system engineering process and a sound project management practice.
Parsec has made great strides in the integration of products and subsystems into the next level of the systems hierarchy, which is a specialised service provided to many of its defence system integrator clients.
‘‘Moreover, we note the ongoing need for ever-increasing high levels of information and cyber-security solutions, which has become a focus area for Parsec,’’ said van Loggerenberg. ‘‘Our high-security encryption solutions are increasingly employed by governments and business enterprises around the world.’
